 Your task is to read two multicultural novels and compare them by theme in a comparison essay.
 Your books must come from the attached list or must be pre-approved by the teacher.

 Each part of the task will be done in stages. All submissions must be typed, single-spaced (for notes
 and rough work) and double-spaced for the final copy.

 Part One – Due Friday, October 5, 2012
 Pick and read book one making analysis notes as you read. Notes must be at least 4 pages long
 (single-spaced, 12 point font), and include notes on character, setting, plot, language,and themes.
 The notes must be submitted to turnitin.com.

 Part Two – Due Friday, November 2, 2012
 Pick and read book two making analysis notes as your read. Notes must be at least 4 pages long
 (single-spaced, 12 point font)and include notes on character, setting, plot, language, and themes. The
 notes must be submitted to turnitin.com.

 Part Three – Due Friday, November 16, 2012
 Compile four pages of notes comparing book one and book two. These notes must have the
 following headings: characters, setting, plot and themes.

 Part Four – Due Monday, November 26, 2012
 Bring a draft of the essay to class for peer editing.

 Part Five – Due Friday, December 14, 2012
 Write an academic 5 paragraph comparison essay, comparing the two multicultural novels you have
 read. All notes and at least one rough draft must be included.

The final product is due in hard copy and to turnitin.com on December 14, 2012.
          This is an absolute deadline and no extensions will be given.
