There are no prerequisites for this course, but ideally students should have completed
Spanish 303 and 304 and studied abroad in at least one of our Spanish-speaking

Course description:

This course meets once a week and aims to help you improve your conversation skills in
Spanish. We will use articles reflecting current events in Latin America as the point of
departure for the discussions. You may be asked to review certain grammar points on
your own outside of class.


There is no textbook for this course. Our readings will be taken from on-line Spanish-
language newspapers at the following web sites:

Grading criteria:

This course is graded on a Pass/Fail basis and attendance is mandatory. You can miss
class two times. A third absence will result in a failing grade. There will be no

You are required and expected to come to class prepared and ready to participate in the
discussions and activities. All homework exercises will be done prior to class.
