A transition program for 9th graders where groups of 10 freshmen are paired with 2 Link
Who are the Link Leaders?
Junior and Senior students selected through an application and interview process
What do Link Leaders do?
Attend 2 days of intensive training prior to orientation
Call freshmen assigned to them prior to orientation
Lead small groups of freshmen in activities during orientation
Follow-up activities throughout the year (phone calls, lunches, tailgate party, dances, lead
advisory lessons, meet individually with freshmen)
Benefits of Link Crew
Data has shown a significant reduction in the numbers of freshmen with D’s or F’s
Some schools using Link Crew have reported a significant reduction in the number of
tardy and discipline referrals among freshmen students (as much as 71 percent)
Improves the overall climate of the school
