CITY OF LANCASTER POLICE DEPARTMENT OPENS NEW CRIME LAB IN
COOPERATION WITH INTEGRATED FORENSIC LABORATORIES, INC.

Lancaster, Texas. The Lancaster Police Department, in conjunction with Integrated Forensic
Laboratories, Inc. (IFL), announced today that it has opened a regional ASCLD – LAB
accredited crime lab in its Headquarters Building, located in the city of Lancaster, Tex. The
regional crime lab will serve police and criminal justice agencies throughout the South Dallas
county area.
The Lancaster facility will offer both fingerprint enhancement and biology testing
capabilities. Other testing services, such as controlled substances and firearm analysis, will be
processed at IFL’s Euless facility. The full range of forensic testing and analysis will be available
immediately through the Lancaster facility.
IFL will staff and manage the fully-equipped crime lab in the Lancaster Police
Department Headquarters Building. With the strenuous accreditation requirements of the state
of Texas, opening and operating an accredited crime lab is impractical for most police
departments, including Lancaster PD. With IFL’s existing accreditation and the police
department’s existing lab, the two combined can continue to handle the city’s forensic testing
needs at a much lower cost than using other existing crime labs.
IFL currently serves two dozen law enforcement agencies in Texas and Louisiana. To
date, it has handled more than 8,400 cases, delivering results in 90 percent of those cases in 72
hours or less. This compares to the three- to six-month waiting periods common at other labs.
“This is a real win-win situation for our department, our city, and the entire south Dallas
area,” said Keith L. Humphrey, Lancaster’s chief of police. “Our agreement with IFL means that
cases can be filed and adjudicated faster – and that more criminals can be taken off the street.”
“The City of Lancaster is proud of our relationship with IFL,” said Marcus E. Knight,
mayor of Lancaster. “The City Council believes this public/private partnership maximizes the
use of taxpayers’ dollars, while enhancing our community’s law enforcement capabilities.”
“We’re very excited to be expanding into Lancaster and into this first-class facility,” said
Ron Fazio, IFL’s president. “The city and its leaders are committed to creating an exceptional
place for people to live and work, and we’re looking forward to growing with them.”
Lancaster Police Department and IFL will host an open house at the new facility, located
at 1650 N. Dallas Ave., on May 20, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
