Dear Colleague:

On April 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. (eastern time), in recognition of National Sexual Assault Awareness
Month, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) will present a Web Forum discussion with
Penelope Hughes on best practices for using online communication to assist crime victims.
Ms. Hughes is Vice President of Online Services at the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network
(RAINN), where she supervised the initial development and implementation of the National
Sexual Assault Online Hotline—a free, confidential, secure service that provides immediate crisis
intervention and support services, referrals, and other information for victims of sexual assault
over the RAINN Web site. She also has more than 7 years of experience as a trained rape crisis
hotline volunteer at the Dekalb County Rape Crisis Center in Decatur, Georgia.

Visit the OVC Web Forum now to submit questions for Ms. Hughes and return on April 16 at
2 p.m. (eastern time) for the live discussion. Learn how to participate beforehand so you are
ready for the discussion.

On behalf of the New York State Crime Victims Board, thank you for your commitment to
providing the highest quality services to innocent victims of crime in New York State.

Sincerely,
