MINNESOTA SOCIAL SERVICE ASSOCIATION
The MSSA Scholarship Program is formulated to enhance the
professional and/or technical skill development of those seeking
undergraduate education in the human service field.
Two $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded for the 2011/12 School Year for an undergraduate
student. Applicants should have at least 2 semesters of college left during the 2011/12 school
The applicants shall be judged upon the following criteria:
Has been accepted for admission, or is currently enrolled, in an undergraduate
education program in human services or a closely related field and can demonstrate
how s/he plans to use their degree in the human service field
Is enrolled in a Minnesota college/university or a college/university in a state that
Possesses the ability to successfully complete the chosen course of study.
Demonstrated financial need
The administering body for the MSSA Scholarship will be governed by the MSSA Board of
Directors. The administration and selection of applicants will be managed by the Chair of the
Scholarship Committee, as appointed by the MSSA President.
The recipients of the scholarships will be announced as awarded in the MSSA Voice. To apply
for the scholarship, the student must provide the following:
1. Answers to the questions on the form
2. A copy of most recent high school report card or college transcript stating the
student received at least a B or 3.0 grade point average, or other successful
progress report ( unofficial transcripts will be accepted) and
3. Two (2) letters of reference.
It is not necessary to be a MSSA member to apply for this scholarship.
The scholarship award winner will be asked to submit a verification of attendance for the fall
Scholarship Application must be received by the MSSA office between April 1 and May 20.
