Morning Announcements for Thursday, September 30, 2010 1. College Bound Juniors: Colleges require scores from college entrance exams taken in the spring of your junior year. All college bound juniors are encouraged to sign up for the practice test of the SAC given at SHS October 13th. The cost is $13. Sign up in the Guidance Office ASAP. 2. Freshmen, Sophomores & Juniors: The underclass picture day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 6. Order forms are available in room 113 and the Main Office. 3. Artists: Are you an artist looking to leave a lasting impression on the Sandusky Community for years to come? The Santa House is being renovated and needs artists to paint murals of Santa’s workshop inside. Your children and grandchildren can see your work years from now!!! See Mr. Matheny if you would like to help. 4. Everyone: Sandusky High School Homecoming will be Friday, October 8 th with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 9th. To run for the Homecoming Court, you must personally sign up in the Library. Sign-up time will be September 27th through October 1st. Also, you must attend a mandatory meeting on Friday, October 1 st at 3:00 PM in Room 155 for about 5 minutes. If you do not attend this meeting or contact Mrs. Prout prior to the meeting, your name will not appear on the ballot. 5. Seniors with a 3.3 GPA – African American, Indian, Asian or Hispanic only: Apply for the Gates Millennium Scholarship. Information in the Guidance Office. The deadline is January 10 th. 6. Seniors Planning to Attend a Career Tech College: The Ohio Elks Association is offering a scholarship to seniors planning to attend a career college or technical college. Applications in Guidance Office due to the counselors no later than January 30 th. 7. Everyone: Future Educators will meet after school on Wednesday, October 6th in room 113. This will be an informational meeting. 8. CBI Students: Today is CORE Day. Please bring work to class for core subjects. 9. UBS: The meeting scheduled for Tuesday is rescheduled for Thursday after school at 3:15 PM. Again, the meeting for today is going to be Thursday. 10. Juniors and Seniors: The following college reps will be visiting SHS next week. Sign up in the Guidance Office before the day of the visit if interested. Notre Dame College and Cleveland Institute of Art on October 4th. Hocking College and Capital University on October 5th. BGSU and Bluffton University on October 7 th and Cleveland State University on October 8th. 11. Everyone: Congratulations to the Chess team lead by team captain Lukas Hines. They beat SMCC and Edison in three set rounds advancing to sectionals. 12. Students and Staff: The senior cosmetology class is now open for business each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 4B and 5 th Periods. You must have a signed agenda and can not come in from lunch periods. Any questions, please see Mrs. Guerra. 13. Juniors: Any junior interested in being part of the homecoming float needs to see Mrs. Chaney in Room 203. Also EVERY JUNIOR needs to bring in two bags of candy to Mrs. Chaney A.S.A.P. 14. All Students: Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet this Sunday, October 3 rd at 6:00 PM in the gym. Everyone is welcome for fun and fellowship. See you Sunday at 6! 15. All Spanish Students: Don’t forget to report to Room 300 immediately after 1 st period. Do not go to 2nd period. 16. Volunteer Opportunities: The following volunteer opportunities exist this week: Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM is child care at Ontario and Osborne Schools. Also, Saturday and Sunday, harvest Happenings at Erie Metroparks. See Mr. Matheny if interested. 17. NHS members: Please remember to turn in your fundraiser forms and money to Room 263 by 3:00 PM Friday. 18. Blue Streak Company: Auditions for “Don’t Drink the Water” are Monday. Make sure you have your monologue ready. If you have decided not to audition, please let Mrs. Petrie know. 19. Everyone: Any team, group, club or organization, who is interested in participating in the homecoming parade, please see Mrs. Fuqua in the Main Office. 20. Attention Baseball Players: There will be an informational baseball meeting for all potential players this Thursday in the cafeteria after school. Please plan to attend. Workout schedules will be passed out. 21. Bowlers: There will be a pre-season meeting for potential bowlers on Thursday, October 8th at 3:50 PM in Room 301. Please plan to attend and pick up paperwork for the season. 22. Attention all Students and Staff: Today in athletics we have the following events scheduled: The freshman volleyball team travels to Put-In-Bay for a 4:30 PM game. Good luck Streaks!!!
