          2
Ingenico 6550 PINpad Device Requirements
The i6550 PINPpad integrates seamlessly into SouthWare with the following requirements.

        1. The PINpad must be used on a Windows workstation.

        2. PCCharge must be used as the Credit Card Interface software.

        3. Revision 13 require a USB interface to the PINpad.

        4. Revision 14 and above offers more flexibility and can interface to the PINpad via:

             USB
             Serial
             Ethernet (TCP/IP)

Terminal Server installations should be running at least Revision 15 and utilize the Serial or Ethernet
(TCP/IP) interfaces in order to have proper communication between the terminal server and the local
workstation.

Implementation Summary

In order to use the i6550 PINpad device, you must configure the device and SouthWare so that
communication can occur properly. If you want to use the device on a workstation using a Windows
network or thin client, the USB method is the simplest approach, but you may also use the Serial or
Ethernet method if you choose. If you are using the device on a workstation using SouthWare via a
Terminal Services session, you must use the Serial or Ethernet method. The serial method uses the
serial port on the workstation and should work on modern Terminal Services systems. The Ethernet
method requires that the PINpad have a dedicated IP Address and be part of the Local Area Network.

Below are the details for how to configure the PINPad and SouthWare for each of these interface
methods. Revision 13 only has the USB interface. The Serial and Ethernet interface is available only for
Revision 14 and above.

USB Implementation Notes
Configuring the i6550 for USB

  1. Restart the device and access the SSA menu by pressing [1], [Cancel], and [Enter] simultaneously
for one second. Then hold the [Clear] button while the device restarts until the SSA Menu
     displays.
  2. Using the stylus or the [+] and [-] buttons on the keypad, select the Extended Menu. Then select
the Supervisor Menu. The password for the Supervisor Menu is 2634, so press [2], [6], [3], [4],
and [Enter]. From the Supervisor Menu, select Sys Parameters.
  3. Select the Download Port and choose Port 1.
  4. Select Setup Port and choose Port 1.
  5. From the Setup Port 1 Menu, set the Interface type to “USB”.
  6. Restart the device and ensure that it shows it is configured for USB after it starts.
  7. Connect the USB / Power cable to the Host port on the device and connect the other end of the
     USB cable to the workstation.

     4
Configuring SouthWare for USB

   1. Create or Modify the Credit Card Interface ID for this workstation via XX-05-13-02.
   2. Field 5 (Swipe/Pinpad Device Info) contains all the information about how to interface to the
      PINpad.
           a. “Use Card Swipe Device?” should be selected.
           b. “Swipe/PinPad Device” should be 1 – Ingenico 6550 (USB).
   3. The “Welcome Screen Text” in field 5 appears whenever the PINpad is initialized. The first line
will be the company name (defined in XX-03-01) if it is left blank.

Activating PINpad on the Workstation

Once you have configured the Credit Card Interface IDs for each workstation, access the Credit Card
Interface ID Maintenance (XX-05-13-02) on the workstation that the device will be used and access the
proper Interface ID. Then, press the F5 key. This process will install the necessary components to
communicate with the device on this workstation. It will also load the forms that are used by
SouthWare on the device.

This step should be redone if the parameters are ever changed after the device has been setup. The
activation process is what allows the workstation to communicate to the device.

Existing Rev 13 Installations

Before you start submitting cards using the new device, make sure you have loaded the new OPOS
(pinpad device) controls into your activex directory and Activate the PINpad from each workstations that
will be using the PinPad Devices by clicking <F5> from the Credit Card Interface ID record on each
workstation.

Below is a list of directories/files required to use the Ingenico device:

swrun/activex directory:

activex/pinpad/*
activex/swppinstall.exe

NOTE: There are no options/setup steps to PCCHARGE – only SouthWare Program changes and data file
changes are required.

  start submission.

User should enter pin # and then submit with the green
SouthWare Screen displays – “Waiting for PIN#”

The Device Displays: Please Wait until the transaction is
After customer submits pin #, the transaction is accepted.
authorized and then it displays “APPROVED”.

     10
Manually Install the OPOS Drivers

There is a batch file that can be executed manually that will install the OPOS drivers if you need to do this
manually. The batch file is located in the activex/pinpad directory and is called “silent install.bat”. This
should resolve any issues you have with OPOS Drivers.

To confirm that this step works, make sure that there is an Ingenico folder under Start-Programs on your
workstation. You should be able to execute the OPOS for the Ingenico iSeries—Ingenico iSeries setup
program. In this configuration program, you should ensure that the Device Connection Settings are
correct for your implementation and that Device Model (under the Line Display tab) is set to 6550.

Customization of the “Welcome Screen”

In the activex\pinpad\forms directory – there is a bmp file named z-MAIN_9.bmp. This file can be
modified to add a black/white logo. The dimensions of the file should not be altered. Please make a
backup of the standard one we release before modifying this file.

NOTE: SouthWare does not recommend you altering any bitmap file except the one mentioned above
due to text that is displayed on the screen based on transaction types and responses from the processor.

Once you have modified the bitmap file, you must re-activate the PINpad on that workstation by
accessing the Credit Card Interface ID Maintenance and choosing “F5” to “Activate PinPad on this
Workstation”. This activation step will load the new forms on the device.
