ALL WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE TYPED USING, FONT: TIMES NEW ROMAN, SIZE: 12, MARGINS: 1” ALL ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE WRITTEN IN “SCHOOL APPROPRIATE” LANGUAGE AND SUBJECT MATTER, USING CORRECT ENGLISH GRAMMAR. ASSIGNMENT #1 Come in for a lunch periods and choose two of the following tasks to do: wash, rinse and sanitize all counters and work tables in the lab. wash, rinse and sanitize all desks and the stuff storage corner. sweep and mop the main kitchen floor sweep and mop the storage room floor Re-organize the utensil and pots/pans/bowls shelf and sanitize all bins Re-organize chef library and wipe down shelves and windows. Re-organize all coat closet, complete laundry, sanitize machines and area around it. Wash, rinse and sanitize the white and stainless steel refrigerators Sanitize inside and outside of all ovens and stoves. ***You must arrive at the beginning of lunch. This means when you must plan in advance and bring your lunch with you. If you do not finish the task, you may come in the following day- however there is no partial credit for partial work*** ASSIGNMENT #2 Watch a program on the food network, find an article in a food magazine (Bon Apetit, Gourmet, Saveur, etc..) or in the food section of the newspaper. Write a two page paper describing the food that was prepared, or the topic of the show or article, what the show or article was about, the recipe (s) , any information about technique or history of the food items used, who the author or star of the show was. The date and title of the program/article must be included. ASSIGNMENT #3 Look up the history and nutrition information of a food item (apples, tomatoes, potatoes, cheese, garlic, tofu….). Where did it come from, when did we first start using it, what part of the world is it from? Write a two page essay on the history and significance of its use and origin, and how it is used, grown and eaten today. **you must site your sources for your information (bibliography). ASSIGNMENT #4 Cook at Home: Take the recipe home. You purchase the ingredients and prepare the recipe at home. You must take photos of your preparation and the final table presentation. You will turn in a typed report of what you cooked, how it turned out, who you cooked it for and printed photos of the whole activity.
