What will this activity accomplish?
Students will learn how to match their interests with career fields in an interactive
and interesting manner.
A summary of what the students will do
Students will navigate to a subscription site for LAUSD where they will take a career
interest survey online.
Each student requires a computer and Internet access which includes parent
permission slips signed and turned in prior to the activity.
Each student must be capable of signing on and gaining access to the
Internet at an LAUSD school site.
Students must bring a notebook and writing instrument with them to class.
Students must be capable of conducting research in an organized and

for time in computer lab.

Students will take a 39 question 5, 8
survey related to their personal
likes and dislikes.

top ten choices the Career Cruising
website offers them.
Students will research the top ten 8, 9, 10
choices and will learn, as a
minimum, the job title, the
required education, the job
market, the earnings and what
people do on the job.
Students will observe and report on
interviews of adults currently
working in the top ten career fields
via the Career Cruising website.
