Learning Objective- Students will be able to explain the importance of Science Literacy to all individuals.


Entry Task - #4 In the article the authors state "Intense study of a particular field of science does
not necessarily make one scientifically literate." Do you agree or disagree? Why?


In Class - Students filled out their planner for the week. Students had the remainder of class to work on
the Science Literacy Essay.


Exit Task - #4 In the article the authors talk about " the argument from civics". What does this
mean?

Homework - The Science Literacy Essay - 5 paragraphs - is due tomorrow.

Learning Objective- Students will generate ideas to explain the changing position and size of shadows.


Entry Task - #4 Why should you always start with an investigative question when starting an
experiment?

In Class - Students filled out their planners for the week. As a class we started the powerpoint for Act. 71
- Sunlight and Shadows.

Exit Task - #4 What was Tyler's Investigative question? Did his summary answer his question?

In Class - Students turned in their Science Literacy Essays. As a class we took Cornell Notes on the
Cornell Notes Powerpoint in the students' Science Notebooks.

Entry Task - #6 If I asked you to measure the length of your notebook, how long do you think it is?
Make sure to use units.


In Class - Students tooks notes in their notebook on the Metric System. Students then took a quick quiz
on the Metric System. Students learned the difference between Precision and Accuracy. Students worked
on a Precision and Accuracy Worksheet.

Exit Task - #6 Why do we use the SI units of measurement?

Homework - Finish the Precision/Accuracy Worksheet.

8th Grade

In Class - Students completed Act. 72 Powerpoint (Measuring Shadows, Measuring Time).
Students completed the Analysis questions for that activitiy.

Raft Drop Worksheet. We went over the answers in class.

In Class - As a class we completed the first Notebook Check of Earth and the Solar System.
Students turned in their Notebooks. As a class we finished watching the Mythbusters from
Wednesday.

Exit Task - #7 - What was one thing that you learned from the Mythbusters today?
