Due: Wednesday, October 3rd
You will be making an ecosystem model which will be fun simply because you have so many ecosystems
that you can choose from. It is also a great way to learn about ecosystems and allows you to be creative
at the same time. You will also write a short story explaining how your ecosystem functions and will
focus on one or two animals as the main characters. I will provide a story map for you to use as a guide
To make an ecosystem model for classmates to view and learn from and to write a short story that
explains your ecosystem and how it functions.
-Pens, pencils, pencil crayons, glue, scissors and anything else useful for making the model.
-Possibly some pictures of animals from magazines or websites to use in your model. Plastic models you
may have could be used as well. You may also create models of plants or animals for you ecosystem out
of clay or play dough.
(These are only examples. Be creative.)
-You will also need a shoe box or another small box about the size of a shoebox to build your ecosystem
-Choose the ecosystem you are going to make a model of and decide on an animal or two in that
ecosystem to focus on. (Examples are ocean, forest, lake, rainforest…)
-Do some research as to what plants and animals live in the ecosystem and how they interact in order to
build an accurate ecosystem.
-Be creative and build your ecosystem.
-Write your short story describing how your ecosystem functions on a daily basis.
