Dear Mr Tomkins,

As a resident of Uplands Road, N8, I am writing to you to express my objections to a recent
planning application submitted to Haringey Council by Firstplan Ltd, acting on behalf of
London Concrete Ltd. The applicant is seeking permission to erect a 'concrete batching plant
with associated hoppers, conveyors and ancillary facilities' on land known as Ferme Park
Depot, Cranford Way, N8.

Having visited the local library to view the plans themselves, I remain unswayed by the case
presented by the applicant that increases in current levels of noise, pollution and dust
emissions will be undetectable. Furthermore, I fear that the fallout from the installation of such
a facility will be to the serious long-term detriment of the human, plant and animal population
of the area.

The proposed site of the plant is at the heart of a densely populated urban space. It lies in
very close proximity to houses in Uplands Road and Chettle Court, Ridge Road, and is
alarmingly close to our local primary school and sheltered accommodation for the elderly. As
a mother of two small children, I have concerns not only for the well-being and quality of life of
my own family and immediate neighbours, but also for that of the wider community of Hornsey
and Crouch End both now and in future years.
