CLOCK MEASUREMENT HCS12 MCU MODULE BOARD
To verify the working frequency of 4MHz in HCS12 MCU Module
Mazidi and Causey “HCS12 Microcontroller and Embedded Systems,” Chapter 8.
Project Board with HCS12 MCU Module
The HCS12 MCU Module comes with 4 MHz crystal (XTAL) oscillator installed. The
HCS12 chip MC9SDG256 (or MC9SxC128, or MC9SDT512) used on the HCS12 MCU
Modules uses this 4 MHz for its timing. We can verify this by running the toggle program
Go to www.MicroDigitalEd.com site under the “Project Board Sample Programs”.
Download the Toggle program into CodeWarrior as we did in Lab4A or Lab7A. Run the
program and examine how fast the LEDs of PORTA flashes. Use Scope to measure the speed of
the flashing LEDs and verify that the XTAL is 4MHz.
