PALS MEETING MINUTES
                           Regular Meeting – Sept. 10, 2012

   First morning meeting of year well-attended – will schedule evening meetings for
     larger PALS events

Treasurer’s Report
    current checking balance $3090.44
    still waiting for state articles of incorporation to become nonprofit

Spirit Wear
    spent approx. $1500 this fall – sold $550 at Open House
    Order forms sent home with students due Friday Sept. 14th
    Will sell Homecoming Week (Oct 5th) Thurs after school/Fri morning – PALS
       will hold Central Spirit Wear Day Friday of homecoming week prize tbd
    Vote to purchase shirts for teachers at Cheryl’s request – 11 Y / 0 N
    Decided to sell flowers for spirit day red/black and pink/black 10 little 5 big –
       Asked Marguerite Maser to make
    Susie to google making necklaces & Kris to get best price on purchasing
       red/black titanium necklaces to sell
    sells custom dog tags @ $2.25/ea

Fall Fundraiser
    kick off assembly Friday Oct. 12th, runs from Oct. 12-26th with Frankenmuth
    Tri fold info will be set up for parents to view at school
    Contest for top prizes will be held – top selling student gets camcorder from
       company – class prizes tdb
    Will need volunteers to help distribute before Thanksgiving
Spring Fundraiser Idea
    “Art to Remember” – do before Mother’s Day
    Will need help completing art work from art teachers
    Kim Shadduck will meet with Cheryl with idea to get an ok
Pennies for PALS
    Put out jar for each classroom – try to get the most pennies and least silver – kids
       put pennies in own jar and silver in other class jars – easy fundraiser tbd more
Bucket Fillers
    Fri Sept 28th – (K-3) 9:50 – 10:30 (4) 10:45 – 12 (5) 12:25 – 1:40
    Cranbrook Nocturnal Animals – Thursday Oct. 4th (grades 2 & 4)
    Bats in December – (grades 3 & 5)
    Lisa Hull to put note in teacher mailboxes asking for ideas
    3rd/4th/5th grade idea – computer safety – plus parent evening mtg – K/1st stranger

Web Site
   Kelly Miller to take over – added spirit wear
   Monthly contest so people will look at site - $5 McDs gift cert per month – vote
      to spend 11 Y / 0 N

Teacher Appreciation
    Welcome Back Breakfast - Heather Lurvey in charge – email for volunteers will
      be sent out
    Fri Sept. 14th 7:30 am

Principal’s Report
    prefers some Monday evening meetings during year
    K/1 having recess before eating lunch this year – good response to this
    Central rated a “Rewards School” – school’s accelerated progress @ # of students
       making adequate yearly progress
    Welcome Kristin Neuville doing Orff music – Hayley McBride long term PE sub
       – Megan Brumbill young 5’s

Old Business
    Gathered approx. 200 volunteer email addresses
    Volunteers will get raffle ticket per volunteer time – end of year could win dinner
      & movie
    Cinch sacs from open house all handed out
    Teacher Bucket Filler books purchased & handed out day of Open House

New Business
   Bare Book order – will wait for Oct.
   PALS agreed not to do anything extra for MEAP week
   Movie Night date tbd next meeting – looking at Fri Nov. 16th or 30th to do a
     Christmas theme – possible sell cider & donuts night of
   Homecoming Parade – Friday before game – PALS to walk with banner and
     throw candy – have each bring own bag candy
   Santa Workshop for Central – looked at catalogs but couldn’t come to an
     agreement on merchandise
