Celebrate the Past, Present, and Future Kiwanis District Convention August 3 – 5, 2012 Bert Benedick, Lieutenant Governor – Division 2 On behalf of the eleven Kiwanis clubs, our UNM CKI club, our Aktion club, twelve Key Clubs, four Builder’s Clubs, our Kiwianis Kids club, and over 800 members in division 2, we welcome you to Albuquerque, Corrales, and Rio Rancho for the Kiwanis Southwest District Convention. Take advantage of the many ventures this near-mile high area offers you. Experience the diverse cultures in our rarified atmosphere. Take in the many restaurants and unique shops in the 300-year old original “old town” and the casual nob hill. Then move to regional shopping in northeast Albuquerque at Coronado Shopping Center and Uptown Center; but don’t forget the Cottonwood Center in northwest Albuquerque. Sample the museums, theatres, and performing arts at the University of New Mexico’s Popejoy Hall. Experience Opera Southwest at the historic downtown Kimo Theatre. Enjoy the culture, history, food and art at the Indian Pueblo Center, and the Hispanic Center. Take the family to visit the bio park, and the wine country of the ten wineries in our immediate area. Don’t forget the Balloon Museum, located on the Balloon Fiesta grounds. Albuquerque is one of the Southwest’s best golf destinations. Biking and hiking trails are clustered around the foot hills. Use the Road Runner Rail for trips to Los Lunas, Belen, and Santa Fe. Last, but not least, enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the 10,300-foot Sandia Peak. The aerial tram is the longest one in North America. Have fun at our convention.
