Arts Education Partnership National Forum Young Artist Program
AEP Fall 2012 National Forum: September 13-14, 2012, Chattanooga, TN

The Arts Education Partnership (AEP) is seeking student art submissions for the design of the front cover of its Fall 2012
National Forum program booklet!

What is AEP?
The Arts Education Partnership (AEP) is a national coalition of more than 100 education, arts, business, cultural, government,
and philanthropic organizations dedicated to securing a high-quality arts education for every young person in America. AEP
believes that quality arts learning can develop young people’s capacities for critical thinking, creativity, innovation,
communication, and collaboration—skills essential to becoming successful learners and engaged members of society.

About the Young Artist Program:
It’s common these days to hear about the decline in school- and community-based arts programs, but AEP knows that there
are still strong programs in our nation that are thriving. The Young Artist Program was established in 2009 to highlight, honor,
and support creative and talented students and their dedicated teachers.

What you do:
The theme of this National Forum is Arts Learning Without Borders, inspired in part by this quote:

                                                     Study the science of art.
                                                     Study the art of science.
Realize that everything connects to everything else.
                                                       – Leonardo da Vinci

Send us an original work of visual art that responds to, reflects, or is inspired by this quote. All genres of visual art are
welcome. Please do not include any text in your artwork. Submissions should be two-dimensional, available in electronic
format, at least 8.5”x11” in size, and 300 dpi. Email your entries along with the attached application and release forms to
aep@ccsso.org by Monday, July 9, 2012 at midnight, EST. Please write “AEP Young Artist Program” in the subject line. Late
and/or incomplete competition entries will not be accepted. Please include the AEP Media Release Form with your entry.

What we do:
AEP staff and a national committee of arts and education professionals will judge entries based on relevance to the theme,
visual appeal, and ability to be incorporated into a program design. We’ll notify the winner of the competition by Friday, July
20, 2012.

What you get:
The program cover is yours! The winning artwork will be featured as the cover of the National Forum program booklet, and the
winning artist will be interviewed for a feature on the back cover! The winner receives a monetary prize presented in a special
award ceremony at the National Forum on the morning of Friday, September 14, 2012. AEP will make a donation to the
winning student’s art teacher for the purchase of art supplies. Additionally, the winning student and his/her art teacher are
invited to attend the National Forum as Artist Ambassadors for their school or organization.

Who can apply?
All applicants must be middle or high school students between the ages of 12-18, must be a student during the time of entry,
and must reside in the Southeast region (this includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and
Tennessee).

Contact Cristine Davis, AEP Program Associate, at cristined@ccsso.org or 202.326.8683 with any questions. We look forward
to reviewing your entries. Good luck!
