Courtroom Observation takes place on the 3rd floor of the
Payne County Courthouse in room 302. Court is every Wednesday
and begins at 8:30 am.
What to Wear:
Dress professionally in business or church attire.
Do not wear open toed shoes.
Do not wear sleeveless tops. Sleeveless tops should be covered by a jacket.
Do not wear shorts.
Do not wear blue jeans.
Where to Sit:
Sit in the back two rows of the courtroom in the spectator section.
Find a Case Supervisor and let them know you’re there and they will show you
where to sit.
What to Do:
Listen carefully to the proceedings.
Take a notepad and make notes during the proceedings so you can ask questions
after the hearings are over or during your next class.
Do not make facial expressions or react to things that occur during the

Do not chew gum, eat, drink, or use tobacco inside the courtroom.
If you need to leave before all the cases are heard, wait until a break in the
hearings and then slip out the door.
All of the cases and proceedings that you observe are highly confidential and
cannot be discussed with any one other than CASA staff.
