Present: Mike Guinn, Treasurer, David Law, Vice President, Rich Ruozzi, President, Mary Jo Saunders,
Secretary, Mike Bettes member

Absent: Jeff Campbell, Member at Large; and John Welsh, Public Relations.

Guest Present: Mike Bettes member, Joe Rudmin member

Minutes: Minutes from last meeting were reviewed.

Treasurer’s Report: $ 5990.08

Old Business

Clock: M. Guinn continues to look into prices for finish line clocks.

T-Shirts: We will not have T-shirts in time for first track meet. Company is behind in production.

Uniforms: Rich brought samples of uniforms.

Commonwealth Track Meet : Need to have 15 runners to get the group rate. We are going to advertise
the club will pay for members to enter events.

10 Miler May 1, 2012:

Ways to improve participation: google calendar, community involvement , training group.

New Business

New Logo: MJ will Look into cost of new logo. Possibly poll members on ideas.

Training Groups: Put the word out about training groups- ask members what they would like to train
for.

Guest Present: Joe Rudmin, Anita (coordinator of Spring Training Youth Program)

Minutes: The minutes of January 17, 2012 were approved.

Treasurer’s Report: M. Guinn reported a balance of $5698.06

Old Business

Clock: M. Guinn continues to look into prices for finish line clocks.

T-Shirts: Rich hopes to have club T-Shirts by the first track meet. He is also looking into club uniforms

Turkey Run: Keep looking into registration online.

Indoor track meet: Suggestion to not have indoor track meets in March.

Hess Greenhouse 5km: Rich suggests making it a “family affair” – Run and then have a picnic after.

10 Miler, May 1

We have about 4 sponsors for the race. Libertarians, Blue Ridge Country Store, and George Gillis are
sponsors for certain. Possible fourth one pending.

Race Day: Mike Guinn is going to bring water, Mary Jo Saunders will bring food, Rich will bring race gear
(chutes, clocks, and cones, etc.)

Prizes 1st and 2nd place $50.00 & $ 25.00 respectfully

Age group prizes-1st place choice of beverages (wine, Gatorade, etc.) . 2nd place $10.00 gift certificate to
Runner’s Corner.

T-Shirts- Look into color.

Medals- may also be an option for prizes.
Possible Ideas for Next Year: put together a “group in training” for the 10 miler in effort to get more
local runners to participate.

Spring Training Class-youth running program for ages 9-14 Beginning April 25-May 27. Children will have
the opportunity to learn different track skills and to run in the Hersey Track and Field meet. Registration
is through the Harrisonburg Recreation Department.

 Rich suggested that we work with Anita (Coordinator of the Spring Training Class) and send a team to
the Commonwealth track meet in July. Use summer track meets as preparation. Possibly have the club
pay the entry fees for the event.

SVTC Membership

Rich suggested that Joe post on the SVTC website that the SVTC will send adults and children who are
members of the SVTC to the Commonwealth track meet in Roanoke in July.

Rich motioned to have a youth rate( 14 & under) of $8.00 for club membership. The motion was passed.

Summer Track Meets:

June 7, 21

July 5, 19

August 2

First race goes off at 5:30, rolling schedule of events from there.

The SVTC will be in the Harrisonburg 4th of July parade.

Next meeting is Tuesday, June 5th 6:30 pm, Dave’s Taverna.
