Please let me know by Monday 19h March at the latest if you will be
Deadline attending and whether you will be bringing any guests, subject to the
availability of places.
The club has buggy paths and buggies are available all year round.
Buggies Please let me know if you want one. At the end of March, buggies
may have to stick to the paths.
The 2012 championship season gets under way with a return visit to Chartham Park.
We have only played here once before, in August 2009. There is a good variety of
holes and no two are the same. Chartham Park features many mature trees and a
number of ponds and lakes. There is a definite heathland feel to a number of the
holes on the back nine. By and large, the fairways are fairly generous although there
are one or two challenging driving holes – notably the sixth. However, the greens are
invariably well protected. The feature hole is the 16th, where the approach to the
green has to clear a lake with a fountain in the middle.
Please note: After coming off the 15th green, you need to cross the road by the
practice area to get to the 16th tee. One of our groups got lost last time.
Please let me know as soon as possible whether you will be at Chartham Park on 29th
March, and also let me know if you need a buggy.

Losers of the above matches will automatically be entered in the draw for the
Singles Repechage competition, to be made after the round at Chartham Park. A
revised match play schedule will be published after each meeting, to enable you to
have plenty of notice of scheduled match dates. Whenever we can, we will bring
matches forward to allow for possible replays etc.
The ‘Hole-in-one’ scheme will start again on 29th March. The competition is open to
all members and entry is entirely voluntary. The cost is £3 per year. All the money
goes into the pot and the first person score a ‘hole-in-one’ at one of our society
meetings wins it. This will be our 16th anniversary season and we’ve never yet had a
hole-in-one. If no-one wins the pot by the end of the season, the money will go to
the Captain’s Charity.
In the News
This is not a joke! An Irish pensioner is suing his golf club for 10 million Euros for cutting

Spring is just around the corner and the new season is only a few weeks away. We’ll
have an increased membership this year, and more meetings than ever. I’m really
pleased with the quality and variety of courses we’ll be playing in 2012 and a copy
of the fixture list is attached. Good luck for the 2012 season, and I look forward to
seeing you all very soon.
Don’t forget to let me know as soon as possible whether you will be at Chartham
