Cataloguing the slide / digital image – scope notes
Image ID
Use the Ids allocated to you to identify the work e.g.0001.tiff
Type
Digital Archival Master or Slide (or other photographic surrogate e.g. transparency, photograph)
Creator
The name/corporate name of the creator of the digital image or slide
Date
Date or range of dates associated with the creation of the digital image or slide.
Capture Device
The specific kind of capture device used (e.g. video camera, digital camera, flatbed scanner..). Include the name of the manufacturer of the capture device (e.g. Nikon, Olympus) and model number (e.g. F40, GT-8500).
Capture Software
The specific software used to create/capture the image.
Optical Resolution
The resolution, in pixels/dots per inch, or pixels/dots per cm, at which the digital image was created (digital images only).
Dimensions
The numeric value of the x (width) and y (height) of the digital image or slide (in pixels or cms respectively).
File Size
The size of the digital image in MB (digital images only).
File Format
The file format of the digital object (e.g. TIFF or MOV etc.) (digital images only).
Compression
State whether any compression has been undertaken. For the archival digital image, this should be “uncompressed” (digital images only).
Colour Management
If any additional software/hardware is used for colour profiles (e.g. Colorvision’s Photocal software).
Bit Depth
e.g. 24 (digital images only).
Colour Space
e.g. RGB (digital images only).
Rights owner
Copyright owner of the digital archival master or the slide.
