WARD TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING
JULY 19, 2011
The Regular Meeting of the Town of Ward was called to order at 8:00 p.m. July 19, 2011 at the Ward
Town Hall. Present:
David Asmus Supervisor
Lyle Winter Supervisor
Larry Paskewitz, Clerk
Dale Gimbel, Treasurer
Minutes of the June Regular Meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s report showed a Checkbook Balance of $57,053.08. Savings Account Balance is $63,566.03.
The Treasurer transferred $22,806.26 from the Savings account into C.D.#8001021602 to bring the
amount of this C.D. to $90,000.00. @ 1.21%. Motion by Asmus seconded by Winter to accept the
Treasurer’s report. All voted in favor. Motion passed.
Motion by Asmus 2nd by Winter to pay Claims 3171-3181. Motion carried. All voted in favor.
Kurt Kruse reported that Tyrrell’s are still letting their irrigation end gun spray on Oak Ridge road. At the
Ward Township Annual meeting in March Tyrrell’s had agreed to put stops on their end guns. Attorney
Joe Kruger will be contacted to draw up a letter to send to Tyrrell’s. A picture will accompany the letter.
A letter from the Minnesota State Demographer shows Ward Township population at 447.
A letter was read from Todd County Weed Inspector stating that Ward Township needs to do a weed
inspection.
Ward Township information has not been updated on the Todd County Web Site. Dale will follow up
and see why they are not entering current information.
Central Specialties will begin brush mowing Ward Township ditches on September 19th. The cost per
hour will include a driver and fuel charge. The Board will try and cut trees ahead of the mowing.
Statema Backhoe did not attend the meeting so the contract with them could not be signed.
Patching tar is needed on 385th Ave. and 281st. Ave.
Winter received a call from the Sheriff’s Department about Mr. Brabec reporting cattle in his corn field.
After inspection by Winter it was determined that the cattle belonged to Mr. Brabec.
Motion by Asmus seconded by Winter to pay the Estate of Denver Erickson the amount of $235.00 for
the mowing he did for Ward Township in 2011 before his death.
The Board discussed the mowing of the Valley and Community cemeteries and the mowing of the Town
Hall yard. Asmus agreed to mow these 3 areas for $136.50 per time.
At 9:30 p.m. being no further business to be brought before the Board at this time Motion by Asmus
seconded by Winter to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. All voted in favor of this motion.
