You can change the alignment of your text by first highlighting the text and clicking the
appropriate icon.

Borders & Shading
To add borders and shading to different parts of your document or the entire page, go to
FORMAT on the Menu bar and click on “Borders and Shading.”

Inserting Pictures
To add pictures, go to INSERT on the Menu bar, select “Picture” and then click on “Clip Art."
To insert a graphic from another source, go to INSERT on the Menu bar and select “Picture” and
then click “From File.”
To insert Clip Art, type in the name of the graphic you
would like to insert into your document. Click on
“Go.”
TIP: To resize a graphic, single-click on the
graphic and place mouse pointer over corner until a
two-way directional arrow appears. Hold mouse
button and drag inward to decrease image size.
TIP: You can also click on the icon(s) from your DRAW toolbar.

Go to FORMAT on the Menu bar and click on “Picture.” Click on the “Layout” tab and choose
“Square” or “Tight.” TIP: You can also right-click on the graphic and click on “Format
Picture.”

Go to INSERT on the Menu bar, select Picture, and then select “WordArt.” Choose a style from
the WordArt Galley and type your text. You can change the font, and font size. Once the
WordArt has been inserted into your document, you can change the fill, line, and shadow colors
by right-clicking on the text and selecting “Format WordArt.”
TIP: You can also access the WordArt Gallery by clicking on the “A” on your Drawing
Toolbar.
Using
AutoShapes
TIP: You can also access “AutoShapes” by clicking on
“AutoShapes”
Go to INSERT on the Menu bar, select Picture, and then select AutoShapes. Draw the shape in
your document. Double-click on the image to change the line style, line color, or shadow. Click
on the Textbox tool that is located on the Draw toolbar. Draw the Textbox on top of the
Autoshape. Type your text in the Textbox. Double-click on the Textbox. Select “No Fill,” and
“No Line.”

Formatting Backgrounds
Go to FORMAT on the Menu Bar, select Background. Click on a Color, Fill Effects, and/or
Printed Watermark.
Inserting Symbols
This tool has many symbols that you cannot find on the keyboard. To access these symbols, go
to INSERT on the Menu Bar and select “Symbol.” Select the appropriate symbol and then click
on Insert.
