Quick, healthy and tasty alternative to the 9th hole bacon sandwich, August 27, 2012 By A. I. Browning

Performance (Food for Fitness Series) (Kindle Edition) Now that I'm getting older I'm trying to make changes wherever I can to
lead an overall healthier lifestyle and so I decided a while ago that I wanted to replace my usual 9th hole bacon sandwich, Mars
bar and coffee at my local course with something more nutritious. After some time trying to think of a suitable alternative I
happened upon this book shortly after it was published and decided to give it a try so now for the last couple of games I have
been carrying a sports bottle full of surprisingly delicious homemade smoothies in my bag and I already feel healthier. I can't say
for sure just yet whether it's the placebo effect coming from knowing I'm not filling my body with so much processed sugar, fat
and caffeine but I'm sweating less and my skin is looking clearer so it seems like more than that to me. My eyesight even seems
to be somewhat improved as I've spent less time hunting for lost balls but again it's too early to say for sure how much of this is
dumb luck and how much is...

Less 'mental fog' during early morning rounds, August 22, 2012 By V. Brown

Performance (Food for Fitness Series) (Kindle Edition) I often find myself grabbing a coffee and something greasy and
unhealthy on my way to a 5:30am tee off and despite the caffeine jolt I have never felt fully 'switched on' when starting my
morning this way so I was intrigued by the healthy options suggested by this book and decided to get the blender out from under
the sink, dust it off and give it a go. So far I've found myself feeling far less sluggish during the early morning starts and this has
resulted in what I believe to be some better performance, particularly on the putting green. I'm also a lot chattier with the rest of
the foursome which may or may not be a good thing - you'd have to ask them! I truly believe golf is primarily a mental game and
so anything that helps improve clarity and focus definitely gets my recommendation.

Performance (Food for Fitness Series) (Kindle Edition) When I bought this book I was actually expecting just a recipe book (and
I would have been fine with that for such a low price) but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the book goes into a surprising
level of detail regarding the nutritional needs specific to golfers including meal timing and supplements and a whole host of
things I hadn't even thought of before. Having followed the advice I've found myself feeling far 'bouncier' around the course with
pretty steady energy levels and a lot less post-game soreness than I would usually feel after a grueling two-round day on the
courses.All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and you can't argue with the price - especially considering the sheer amount of
detail packed away in here.
