Product Description-Leading from Behind: The Reluctant
President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him
Barack Obama has never been fully vetted—until now. In the New York Times bestselling Leading from Behind,
investigative journalist Richard Miniter presents the first book to explore President Obama’s abilities as a leader, by unearthing
new details of his biggest successes and failures. Based on exclusive interviews and never-before-published material, Leading
from Behind investigates the secret world of the West Wing and the combative personalities that shape historic events. Contrary
to the White House narrative, which aims to define Obama as a visionary leader, Leading from Behind reveals a president who
is indecisive, moody, and often paralyzed by competing political considerations. Many victories—as well as several significant
failures—during the Obama presidency are revealed to be the work of strong women, who led when the president did not:
then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi; Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; and Valerie Jarrett, his closest adviser and an Obama family
confidante, whose unusual degree of influence has been a source of conflict with veteran political insiders. In Leading from
Behind, you will learn:· Why Obama’s relationship with Israel was poisoned years before he met Israel’s prime minister
Benjamin Netanyahu· The real reason for Valerie Jarrett’s strong hold over both Barack and Michelle Obama·
ObamaCare wasn’t Obama’s idea. It was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s. And the real reason he danced to her tune.·
Obama delayed and canceled the mission to kill Osama bin Laden three times and then committed an intelligence blunder that
allowed dozens of high-level members of al Qaeda to escape.· Why Obama destroyed a secret budget deal with House
Speaker John Boehner that would have reformed entitlements, slashed spending, and reduced the national debt—without
raising taxes· Why Obama is determined to save Attorney General Eric Holder, even though he has mislead and
stonewalled Congress about “Operation: Fast and Furious”· Why Obama decided to defy the Tea Party and ditch his plans
to end earmarksIn Leading from Behind, Richard Miniter’s provocative research offers a dramatic, thoroughly sourced account
of President Obama’s White House during a time of intense domestic controversy and international turmoil.

This review is from: Leading from Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him (Hardcover) Just
finished the book and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought I was going to be reading another book bashing Obama
without hard facts. Not only did I read all 304 pages, unlike some reviewers on amazon, I read some other books by the author
before this one and found all of them were as equally a good read with great knowledge of the subject matter.

A reasonably good, but partisan, critique of the Obama presidency, August 23, 2012 By CD
This review is from: Leading from Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him (Hardcover) In the
partisan world of today, I rarely find a book that looks at events in a non-partisan way. This book was no exception.I'm a staunch
conservative and have plenty of problems with Obama. Nevertheless, I don't exactly think this book added much to my
understanding of the man. From start to finish the author provides us with a viscerally satisfying critique (if you are conservative)
of the president and his failings. Much of it I heartily agree with. OTOH, maybe I pay attention to the world of politics more than
most, but I just didn't find much new in this book that I didn't already know or suspect. It seemed mostly to be a rehash of
criticisms of Obama that I've heard from conservative sources throughout the last (nearly) 4 years. (Thankfully, minus any
discussion of 'birther' claims.)And maybe it is just me, but I am really over books that don't even pretend to be neutral in how
they portray the facts. Authors with agendas (right or left) turn me...

Short, Sweet,, and To The Point, October 2, 2012 By @PBizzel
This review is from: Leading from Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him (Hardcover) If you
have been living with your nose to the grindstone for the last 4 years, this is a clear and concise breakdown of the critical events
that transpired during the Obama presidency. By writing this review, my intention is not to sway minds one way or the other. I
know what I believe because I have done the research for myself. My advice to anyone that wants to accomplish the same
thing, but unfortunately doesn't have the time, read this book. You can read it in a week, 30 pages a day. You will walk away
knowing more than 99% of the population about the key moments and crisis Obama has been apart of these last 4 years. I don't
want to call this a summary, it is fact based information that clearly describes what the Main Street Media is not. I strongly
recommend everyone who cares about the direction of this country and wants to know more about who Barack Obama is to
read this book. You and the country will be better off for it.
