As a member of the growing disaffected, what is more a faculty member at the most southern University in Texas, I found this vastly entertaining. It harnesses a powerful vision of technocratic subculture with a solid foundation in conservative constitutionalism. I recommend it without reservation and look forward to the next volume in the series. The action is fast paced and the political subtext is clear without being unduly heavy handed. The emergence of this type of literature bodes well for the right but may well presage tempestuous times in our future. The word "secession" is prominent, need I say more? 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful This book was Awesome!, February 12, 2012 By All About Me This review is from: Defiance: Fall of an Empire (Paperback) I am one that likes to read but usually doesn't, so sometimes it's hard to find a book I really like and can't put down. The characters are interesting and you quickly get involved with and concerned for them. The plot is engaging and the details made me stop and think. I highly recommend this book; it's entertaining while making you think about the current state of our union and where we're headed.
