WHAT IS CUFX?
Experts from leading credit unions and top vendors are collaborating on CUFX, an initiative of the CUNA Technology Council,
to develop standards that would make product and service integration across the credit union industry easier and less
For credit unions to grow, provide the best member experience across all channels, and remain competitive in the
marketplace, they must continually improve their technical infrastructure.
IT impact and ROI are hampered by the lack of a single integration standard. Credit unions spend millions of dollars
independently integrating similar solutions. Even the same vendors providing the same business process have highly custom
integrations at each credit union.
Members and CU employees are affected by:
Delayed and costly product launches
Inconsistent data across channels
Disparate systems, causing extra work, higher risk of error and increased security issues
THE CUFX SOLUTION
CUFX (Credit Union Financial Exchange) Service Framework is a standards initiative to:
Simplify integration and reduce initial and ongoing costs of independent vendor-provided and credit union-created
Increase speed of delivery of new business functions across the credit union industry
Improve member experience and employee efficiency
Free vendors from repetitive, time-consuming, low-impact customization, so they can focus their efforts on
Standards will be available on a royalty free basis. A certification fee will be required for vendors to acquire “CUFX Ver. X.X
Initially, CUFX will focus on new applications or existing transaction sets that support new initiatives, like PFM, membership
applications and mobile payments. Building on these new key initiatives, a new standard will be iteratively created so back-end
systems are speaking the same language. Future initiatives may include re-engineering existing transaction sets.
Leading credit unions and top vendors are already allocating resources to help with this initiative.
