Position Title: Information Systems Analyst Intern

Name and Location of Agency/Department Requesting Intern:
The Information and General Services Department. The job location is in the main government center located at 950
Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA.

Functions of Agency/Department:
The County of Nevada’s 775 full time employees work together to manage and deliver a $180 million annual budget
providing comprehensive public services to our community that improve the quality of life in Nevada County. Our core
businesses are public safety, public health, environmental protection, regional planning, public infrastructure, public
assistance, and social services.

Nevada County is one of the most picturesque areas in the State. While occasional snow showers may occur during
winter, the area is well known for being above the Sacramento fog and below the heavy snow of the Sierras. Nevada

Intern Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist staff in the day-to day activities within a busy governmental IT department. The student or recent graduate
selected for the position would be asked to perform a range of duties from very basic activities to those requiring higher
skill levels and professional expertise. Duties may include:analyzes, and researches existing methods and applications;
researches system and application code requirements; Designs logical, database and physical specifications; Researches
and resolves production problems using debugging tools; Tests, debugs, and upgrades applications for new and existing
software releases; Installs, adapts and integrates new software packages into existing systems; Prepares test strategies
for system and program quality assurance; Creates, maintains and modifies user and system procedures and technical
documentation; Develops and/or modifies applications and enterprise information for public eGovernment-related
purposes; Supports users in assuring data integrity;

Educational Requirements:
This internship is best suited for students or recent graduates with majors in the following areas: Computer Science,
Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related fields.

Skills, Training or Qualifications:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, detail oriented, reliable, neat appearance. The County is a Microsoft
.NET, SQL, SharePoint, Visual Studio development environment.

Time Commitment:
Minimum 10 - 20 hours per week for 3 to 6 months. Hours can be scheduled in 3- to 5-hour blocks of time during regular
business hours (Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5p.m.). Applicants willing to work additional hours or for a
longer duration typically gain a more in- depth experience.
