Spring ISD is located in Houston and serves over 36,000 pre-
kindergarten through twelfth grade students in 37 schools and
  employs approximately 5,000 staff members.

• Why Stoneware?
   – Needed a way to securely deliver applications to staff and students
     regardless of location or device
   – Due to reduced budgets, we could no longer afford our laptop/desktop
     replacement schedule
   – Desire to eliminate the need for VPN for remote users
                          Spring ISD

• Key features
   – Single URL for access to district applications and resources
   – Internal applications can now be delivered securely to external users
   – Single sign-on eliminates the need to remember multiple usernames and
     passwords
   – Access control to applications and resources using existing directory
   – File level access
   – Staff and students can customize their portal
   – Single installation with multiple profiles allows us to provide different “views”
     for staff, students, board members
   – Supports multiple operating systems and browsers
   – Works with mobile devices

• Spring ISD 1:1 program at career academy
   – 1,600 student laptops – 24/7 access
   – Year five of 1:1
   – Budget constraints have prevented the replacement of student laptops
   – Student personal devices piloted as an alternative to district provided
     laptops
   – Security concerns and changes
   – Stoneware allows us to deliver applications/resources to these personal
     student devices
• Future plans
   – Parent portal providing real-time access to their child’s grades, attendance,
     schedule, meal account, etc.
   – Access for terminated employees to paystubs and W-2s
                          Spring ISD

• Feedback from our end user community
   – Teacher: “My kids are using the apps this week for exam review. It's really
cool. It's starting conversations between kids that don't usually talk
much. And I can instantly type "wrong" under an incorrect answer or give a
hint as to the correct answer. The kids are really engaged.”
   – Staff: “Capability is great and fast. I love having all these features in such a
     concise format.”
   – Staff: “When teachers ask me how to access their grade book I tell them
my.springisd.org. When they ask me how to access e-mail I tell them
my.springisd.org. Everything is now my.springisd.org which makes it very
     easy to remember.”
