BSOM SCIENTIFIC MEETING BURSARIES
The British Society for Oral Medicine (BSOM) has awarded Bursaries to Junior members
of the Society since 1997. These support attendance at the BSOM Annual Scientific
BSOM Council recognises that the financial cost may act as a barrier to attendance at
BSOM meetings. It wishes to support as many juniors as possible in attending these
meeting, within the funds available.
Only applications from members of the BSOM in good standing will be considered.
Applications should be made using the attached proforma, submitted by Friday 16th
March 2012 and e-mailed to:

Bursary applications will be evaluated by Council with reference to:
The applicants access to other funding sources, such as through their employment
or as part of postgraduate studies. Applicants with little or no access to such
sources of funding will be given preference.
Applicants who intend to submit an abstract will be given preference, particularly
where they are the first named author, over applicants who do not intend to submit
Preference will generally be given to applicants who submit requests for support to
cover the meeting costs over and above applications for travel or accommodation
costs. However, all applications will be evaluated on their merits.
Applicants should also seek other sources of funding and indicate these in the application.
It is anticipated that the total amount applied for may exceed the budget available.
BSOM Council reserves the right to award bursaries as it sees fit and decisions made by it
about bursaries are final.
