                   Marianjoy Inpatient Brain Injury Programs
                   Receive Highest Accreditation from CARF

Wheaton, IL (September 20, 2007) –The inpatient brain injury programs for adults and children at
Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital have been awarded a three-year accreditation from the Commission on
Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This is the highest level of accreditation that can be
awarded, representing Marianjoy’s commitment to excellence in providing services for brain injured
persons.

According to the CARF report on the brain injury programs at Marianjoy, “The interdisciplinary brain
injury team members are well qualified and focused on the promotion of a positive environment. The
organization has a strong philosophical approach to working with families and persons served who have
survived brain injuries, and this approach is integrated into all aspects of their treatment programs.”

CARF surveyors made no recommendations, which signifies that they did not identify any areas of
nonconformance to the standards. This is an extraordinary accomplishment, as only three percent of
CARF surveys result in no recommendations.

“This is the ultimate achievement for the Marianjoy Brain Injury Program and its dedicated team of
clinicians. Countless hours of preparation go into attaining this accreditation. CARF was truly impressed
with our program, and that is a testament to our incredible staff,” said Kathleen Yosko, Marianjoy
President and CEO.

The Marianjoy Brain Injury Program is led by Dr. Nelson Escobar, who is also on the Board of Directors
of the Brain Injury Association of Illinois. The program concentrates on treating patients with brain
injuries due to trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, infection, tumors, and oxygen deprivation. Marianjoy leaders
are working closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense to best serve
