Quality Assurance Investment We are committed to working towards investing effectively in all our employees in the Music Service to further their own professional and personal development. Recruitment We advertise nationally for staff, and have stringent interviews according to LEA selection and recruitment procedures. This includes the standard police and medical checks undergone by all teachers (staff appointments). Standards Staff are selected for their specialist skills and maintain a high standard of teaching through regular monitoring (including verbal and written feedback) and in - service training. The Service is committed to Investors in People, a national standard for staff development and training. This is accordance with the statement: "We are committed to working towards investing effectively in all our employees in the Music Service to further their own professional and personal development. We are also monitored by the LEA, and staff are often included in school OFSTED inspections. Links We encourage close links between instrumental and class music and all our staff plan their work according to an Instrumental/Vocal Scheme of Work which is linked to the National Curriculum. All staff issue regular progress reports for all pupils, and we encourage parental involvement in regular practice through the HMS Practice Book. Our GCSE workshops which are on offer to schools, reflect the requirements of the exam syllabus which in turn are based on the National Curriculum. Performance Skills We encourage the development of performing skills and are proud of the quality of our high profile end of term concerts. The music service has nine ensembles, of which the Hounslow Youth Orchestra is the senior orchestra and one for which other ensembles are, in a sense, training orchestras. It is a full symphony orchestra and has given many public concerts, several of which have been at the Albert Hall.
