           Translational Science Award (CTSA)

                    Pilot & Feasibility Announcement

Applications are solicited for a translational pilot project to conduct research relating to digestive diseases.
Applications will be considered in all areas of digestive disease research with particular emphasis along the
following research themes:

 Gastrointestinal epithelial growth, proliferation and apoptosis
            Epithelial integrity
            Gastrointestinal development and function
 GI physiology, obesity and metabolism

This award will be co-funded by the Vanderbilt Digestive Disease Research Center (VDDRC) and the
Vanderbilt Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) through CTSA’s Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical
and Translational Research (VICTR). This award will be for a maximum of two years. In general the budget
should comprise $25,000 per year from the VDDRC. It is expected that the budget from VICTR will adhere
to the VICTR guidelines and must involve human research. There is no cap on requests for VICTR funding
though larger requests undergo closer scrutiny. Please visit the VICTR website for more information
regarding the VICTR guidelines, Research Proposal Template and additional information:
https://starbrite.vanderbilt.edu/funding/.

The proposal must fulfill the following requirements:
       1. It must be focused on translational GI research related to humans.
       2. The Principal Investigator must also apply for funding support of allowable costs through VICTR.
