The Benefits of Medical Progress by David Cutler This talk focuses on the benefits of medical innovation. Developed countries spend a lot more on medical care now than in the past. But what is the return for that spending? I argue that the return is high, and that the conventional view of increasingly unaffordable medical care is wrong. Rather, we can comfortably spend more on valuable services, though we should work to increase the value of what we get.
