JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT: .5 FTE

JOB TITLE: ASSESSMENT AND CURRICULUM SUPPORT SPECIALIST
LOCATION: District, Grade School, High School
CHARACTERISTICS: Certified employee, contract dependent on full- or part- time status
REPORTS TO: Superintendent/ Site Principals
SUPERVISES: In some cases, instructional assistants, tutors and/or teacher interns
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Superintendent/ site Principals

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

To provide training, planning, and direct and support services to District personnel, parents and students on all issues related to
testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    Possesses knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities.
    Develops and implements activities that encourage students to be life-long learners.
    Works with the Superintendent, principals, and staff to develop and implement short- and long- term District testing
      goals.
    Train staff for test administration and secure testing, preparing staff for the implementation of the Smarter Balance
      Assessment and providing them with the tools to begin preparing students for the new assessment.
    Identifies and track students across the District at all grade levels that have not met State Benchmarks at their respective
      levels, are at risk of not earning an Oregon Diploma, and also make sure there is 100% participation for state testing for
      AYP Results, and share this information with students’ teachers.
    Utilizes past State tests or similar exams to provide practice opportunities for students.
    Communicates with administrators on a regular basis, regarding progress students are making towards attaining State
      Benchmark levels.
    Plans and coordinates District testing schedule.
    Overseeing the following assessments:
       PSAT
       EXPLORE
       PLAN
       ACT
       OAKS (Math, Reading, Science Grades 3-12)
       Writing Assessment (Grades 4, 7, 10 and 11)
      This includes ordering and preparing testing materials, arranging and training proctors, setting up accounts for kids and
      preparing their SSID numbers and cards for OAKS testing, checking for errors in OAKS, ODE and Esis, administering
      and proctoring tests, and completing paperwork and preparing tests for return shipping.
    Implement Data Teams district wide and assist with training
    Attend state-wide and regional trainings on the new Oregon Diploma requirements, new Common Core Standards and
      the ne Smarter Balance Assessment.
    Phase in the new Oregon Diploma requirements at the HS. Providing information sessions and trainings for Site
      Council, parents, teachers and students
    Create and updating assessment files for all students grades 3 – 12.
    Assist with phasing in the New Common Core Standards in English Language Arts (Reading, Writing, Speaking) and
      Math
    Meets regularly with site principals to solicit feedback on program needs and changes.
    Provides administrative and/or School Board updates as needed/requested.
    Establishes work sample schedule and works with teachers to ensure completion of tasks and recording of scores.
    Tracking and disseminating all test data to appropriate people.
    Representing Riverdale on the MESD C&I advisory committee and disseminating relevant information to the
      appropriate administrators and staff
    Providing teachers with professional development in using the state scoring guides, etc.
    Managing all assessment data in ESiS (transferring Data out of ODE into ESiS and updating all essential info.)
        Providing Test Taking Strategy classes for HS students
        Creating misc. graphs, charts, tables, reports, data comparisons, and power point presentations as requested.



ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Works cooperatively with the Superintendent, principals, staff, parents and students.
2. Works cooperatively with the State Department of Education, Multnomah Education Service District (MESD) and other
external agency personnel, who have responsibility in the area of testing.
3. Represent Riverdale School District on MESD Curriculum and Assessment Committee.


OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATES/LICENSES

1. Valid Oregon Teaching License.
2. Valid First Aid/CPR-AED Cards preferred.

EDUCATION/VOCATIONAL PREPARATION

1. Appropriate Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees required.
2. Successful student teaching, intern teaching, or past teaching experience.
3. Experience working with broad range of student abilities and ages.
4. Experience with State Benchmarks is required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 50 pounds. Ability to move freely to various locations
within the classroom and other supervisory settings (cafeteria/playground). Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending.
Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work. Exposure to noise and activity of a school
setting. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary, fringe benefits, working conditions and the like are negotiated every three years between the Riverdale School Board and
Riverdale Teachers’ Association.
