General Description (Purpose and Function):

To perform healthcare services to patients under the direction and responsible supervision of a physician.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):
     Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on
       follow-up procedures.
     Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as X rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work, and interprets
       test results.
     Performs therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, suturing and wound care, and
       managing infections.
     Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and maintains records of
       treatment and results.
     Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations.
     Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional
       problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
     Assists physician, as required, for emergency treatment and more complex procedures.
     Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality improvement initiatives.
     Answers call as needed and participates in audits and inquiries related to billed services.
     Records concise, accurate and legible documentation of patient's medical data on patient charts.
     Evaluates effectiveness of treatment (if any).
     Reports and documents significant information/changes in patient’s condition.
     Initiate the ordering of appropriate laboratory, radiological and other diagnostic procedure required for
       specific evaluation(s).
     Interpret laboratory and radiological findings as they relate to patients' clinical presentation and current
       treatments.
     Appropriately manages all patients' concerns.
     Attends all mandatory in-services as directed.
     Maintains professional certifications/licensure in active status.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and
      deformities.
    Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical
      and mental dysfunctions, and for counseling and guidance.
    Skilled at using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions,
      conclusions or approaches to problems.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
    Master’s degree
    Current state of Florida Physician Assistant license
    HIV, Domestic Violence, Medical Errors, and CPR/BLS certifications

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
    Minimum of one year relevant experience
