"Lovely and thoughtful." “Plaintive, understated but hook-laden.” - Q Magazine

“Sarah Blasko’s third solo album is a perfectly pitched affair …intimate yet poppy, delicate yet emotionally full-
blooded.” "A gentle beauty." - Daily Telegraph

Bewitching folk-pop songstress Sarah Blasko’s new single is an aching tale of two lovers who must go separate ways.
With a smoky jazz-club backing of a funereally-paced Balearic drum, the acclaimed Australian laments the agonising
choice to let an unhappy lover leave her over desolate strings and double-bass. “I never knew it would hurt like this
to let someone go against my wishes / All I can do is hope and pray that you’ll find your way.” With naked lyrics
exposing her fragile state, it is Blasko’s inimitable vocal delivery that pours the emotion into the song – she is both
hushed and delicate and yet impassioned and heart-wrenching.

Since making her long-overdue bow on our shores in April with her third album, the phenomenal ‘As Day Follows
Night’, Sarah Blasko’s intelligent lyrics and mature musicianship have drawn great critical acclaim including features
in Q Magazine, Mojo Magazine and The Independent. Her unique stage presence and accomplished live
performances have also gained attention - she has toured with fellow Australians The Temper Trap and performed
at The Great Escape festival in Brighton and her own headline show in London. Sarah has also recorded radio
sessions for Janice Long on Radio 2 and Lauren Laverne on 6Music and performed on BBC2’s Newsnight.

The album itself has received phenomenal reviews, both here, in her home country and throughout Europe.
Released in Australia in July 2009, ‘As Day Follows Night’ was voted Album of the Year by Triple J Radio, while Sarah
was nominated for an impressive five ARIAs, winning for Best Female. Produced by Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn &
John, it sees Blasko boldly drop the electronic influences of her earlier work for an almost entirely acoustic album
with influences ranging from Ennio Morricone and Henry Mancini to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Talking Heads.
Sarah’s goal was to make “pure, elemental songs played on acoustic instruments. (She) didn’t want to hide the lyrics
behind electronics or effects pedals” - ‘I Never Knew’ is just one of the many exceptional results.
