1. Policy Statement
The purpose of this policy is to confirm the terms and conditions applicable to the current
Bounty Scheme. We are proud to have great pubs up and down the country that require the
highest calibre people to take on the leases and run their own businesses there. We know
that the best people are people with Spirit…people who have the ambition and
entrepreneurial skill to run their own business as well as the expertise and the capital to invest
in their own business.
All Spirit Pub Company employees and Spirit Leased licensees are eligible to nominate
someone to take on a lease, tenancy or 1 year Probationary agreement via the scheme.
Take ups that will result in a payment being made are all ‘secure’ agreements (1 year or over)
in any of our leased pub opportunities.
3. When to use this Policy
Employees and licensees should use this policy when a vacancy arises to introduce a
suitable individual, outside of the business, to a leased business.
4. Policy Details
4.1 Terms of the policy
The term ‘referrer’ applies to existing employees or licensees working for or in conjunction
with Spirit Pub Company.
The term ‘secure’ applies to a 1 year probationary agreement, tenancy or lease with Spirit
This scheme applies to current employees or licensees who have introduced an individual to
a vacant pub within the business. All nominations must be stated prior to any recruitment
process taking place and be logged via the Leased Recruitment team at
Where a licensee operates under a company name, the nomination will have to come from a
director of that company.
If the individual recommended is successful in obtaining ‘secure’ agreement, they must sign
their agreement and successfully complete a minimum of 6 months before the referrer can
receive payment from the scheme.
If the individual does not succeed in any stage of the recruitment process, or during the 6
month period for whatever reason, the referrer will not receive a payment from the scheme.
All payments are at the discretion of the Business Development Manager and if the Business
Development Manager does not feel the licensee is operating a sustainable business and will
be revoking the terms then the payment will not be made.
If an audit trail is not available payment may not be processed.
4.2 What positions does it apply to
This policy only applies to the recruitment of the following positions:
- 10 year + lease holders
- 5 year tenancy holders
- 1 year probationary agreement holders
And does not apply in case where the assignment of a lease has taken place.
4.3 Amount of Payment
Nominations will have one fixed payment. The referrer will receive this payment as soon as
the employee nominated has successfully completed their first 6 months having signed a

This is a one off payment and no further money is given to the referrer after completion of the
6 month period. However the referrer can nominate and introduce as many individuals as
they wish to the business and can receive payment for each successful appointment into a
4.4 Process – How to apply and receiving payment
The referrer will send an email to email@example.com stating the name
of the individual they would like to nominate, an address and contact number as well as a pub
in mind should this be applicable. The applicant will still need to complete the online enquiry
for the pub they wish to apply for. The leased recruitment team will log all nominations and
monitor the progress of each licensee through the recruitment process. The Licensee
Resourcing Specialist and Business Development Manager will authorise all eligible
Once a licensee is appointed into a pub, the recruitment team will monitor and record when
the qualifying period will end. The Business Development Manager will confirm the
successful completion of the 6 month period and the Resourcing Specialist will request that a
cheque is raised to allow payment to be made.
There are a number of exceptions that will apply to this scheme:
Not available to Business Development Managers who are recruiting for positions
within their own or anybody else estate.
Not applicable for the recruitment of hourly paid or team player roles
Individuals on temporary or fixed term contracts paid via agencies or self employed
Internal transfers within the business
External candidates who have worked for Spirit within the last 2 years prior to
