       A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and

honor of Richard Winter "Rick" Berry.

       With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Richard Winter

"Rick" Berry, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

       WHEREAS, Richard Winter "Rick" Berry was born on December 2, 1944, a native

of Augusta, Bracken County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on

November 25, 2001; and

       WHEREAS, Richard Winter "Rick" Berry was the loving son of Amy Boothe Berry
and the late John W. Berry; he was the devoted husband of 35 years to Martha Gross

Berry; he was the loving father of four sons, Charles L. Berry, Sr., of Hancock, New

York, Eugene L. Berry of Augusta, Anthony J. Berry of Maysville and John Richard

Berry of Brooksville; he was the loving brother of William L. Berry of Augusta, David E.

Berry of Maysville, John S. Berry of Brooksville, and a sister, Mary Ann Kearns of

Augusta; and he was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild;

and

       WHEREAS, Richard Winter "Rick" Berry was a member of St. Augustine Catholic

Church and Masonic Lodge No. 80 F&AM; he was a maintenance technician for Clopay

Corporation, and a former Augusta city councilman, a former member of the Augusta

Board of Education and past coordinator of Bracken County DES; and he was a retired

member of the Augusta Volunteer Fire Department where he served as fire chief for

several terms; and

       WHEREAS, Richard Winter "Rick" Berry served his country with distinction in the

Kentucky Army National Guard where he retired with the rank of Sgt. First Class after 20

years of service; and he also served in the United States Army and the Air Force Reserve;

and
       WHEREAS, the passing of Richard Winter "Rick" Berry has left a void that cannot

be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

       NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the

Commonwealth of Kentucky:
       Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of

sorrow upon the passing of Richard Winter "Rick" Berry, and extends to his family and

friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

       Section 2.   When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in

loving memory and honor of Richard Winter "Rick" Berry.
       Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit

a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Martha J. Gross Berry, 3478 Mary Ingles Highway,

Dover, Kentucky 41034.
