Prospectus Hidden Talent in our Corporate Community Call for Entries – Deadline August 1, 2007 Exhibition Dates: October 8-November 10, 2007 Public Reception: October 12, 2007 The Peoria Art Guild invites artists working inside corporations to submit their personal work for jurying and exhibition. Entries in all media will be accepted: drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic arts, photography, sculpture, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, and mixed media. The Peoria Art Guild provides a vibrant forum for contemporary art, serving as a resource for artists, educators and the community at large. As one of the largest exhibition spaces in Central Illinois devoted to contemporary art, we present a wide variety of exhibits, with regional and national appeal, from original artwork created in traditional media to the newest, most innovative concepts currently being studied in graduate art school programs, even interactive art using computers or video technology. Hidden Talent in our Corporate Community Eligibility: What better way to express the heartbeat of today’s corporate creative environment than through artists who are currently working inside corporations! Artists must be currently employed by corporations. The work must be your personal statement. Receipt and presentation of work: There are no size restrictions, but accepted work must be hand delivered to the Peoria Art Guild and picked up after the close of the exhibition. No shipped work will be accepted. Work must be received ready to hang with wire in place. Installations must have complete assembly information. Works on paper must be framed and under Plexiglas (no glass). Artists providing video, sound, CD or other non-traditional media will need to provide the necessary equipment to view these works and assist in installation. The curator will make the final decision on acceptability of work for presentation. Juror: Our juror is Marlene Miller. Marlene received her Bachelor's of Fine arts in ceramics from Bradley University with a minor in painting and drawing, and her Master's of Fine arts in ceramics from Syracuse University. As a figurative ceramic sculptor, she has exhibited nationally since 1978. Since the early 90's, she has exhibited internationally at the Fletcher Challenge International Ceramics Exhibition at the Auckland Museum in New Zealand, the International Biennial of Ceramic Art at the Chateau-Musee of France, and the Faenza International Ceramics Exhibition in Italy. In 2000, she left her teaching
position to focus on her work exclusively and to establish MillerClay Designs, creating ceramic sculpture and wall relief for interiors and outdoor placement. Entry Procedure: A non-refundable fee of $15 enables each artist to enter up to three images of their artwork (3D works may include an additional detail image). Complete the accompanying entry form and enclose a check or money order made payable to the Peoria Art Guild. Images may be submitted as slides or on CD, but CD is highly preferred. Please follow these instructions: For slides: Only 2x2” slides in standard mounts will be accepted (no glass). Label with artist’s name and title. If untitled, label “Untitled #1, Untitled #2, etc. For CDs: Submit all images on one CD. Image dimensions should be approximately 5x7 inches at 150ppi in .jpg format. Use the following file naming protocol: last name_first initial_image title. Example: joe_j_trees. Clearly print your name on the CD. Acceptance Notification: Acceptance or non-acceptance will be via e-mail only. Accepted artists will receive detailed instructions on delivery and pick-up of their work. Exhibition: The selected works will be on exhibit at the Peoria Art Guild from October 8 to November 10, 2007. Works may not be removed from the exhibition during this period. The exhibition will be promoted via show card, press releases, and the Peoria Art Guild website and newsletters. Accepted artists are encouraged to attend the reception.
