[Grade G-D]. 10.2: Show collected data as pictograms. [Grade G–F]. 10.3: Draw bar charts to represent statistical data. [Grade F]. 10.4: Draw a line graph to show trends in data. [Grade E–D]. 10.5: Draw and read information from an ordered stem-and-leaf diagram. [Grade E–D]. Functional Skills Task 1 Objectives: Collecting and using real-life data. Producing charts that represent information about situations in real life, like those found in newspapers, on the internet, on tv, etc. 11.1: Find the mode from lists of data and from frequency tables. [Grade G–D]. 11.2: Find the median from a list of data, a table of data and a stem-and-leaf diagram. [Grade G–D]. 11.3: Calculate the mean of a set of data. [Grade F–C]. 11.4: Find the range of a set of data and compare different sets of data, using the mean and the range. [Grade G–F]. 11.5: Understand the advantages and disadvantages of each type of average and decide which one to use in different situations. [Grade F–C]. 11.6: Revise finding the mode and median from a frequency table and calculate the mean from a frequency table. [Grade D]. 11.7: Identify the modal class and calculate an estimate of the mean from a grouped table. [Grade C]. 11.8: Draw frequency polygons for discrete and continuous data. [Grade D–C]. Functional Skills Task 2 Objectives: Use the averages as part of the decision making process, students should be able to give full reasons for their choices and also give reasons for not choosing the other averages. Module Description of work to be covered 1 Initial Assessment Test. 2 Diagnostic Analysis of Initial Assessment Test – Addressing Misconceptions. 3 Statistics: Statistical representation. (Book 1F – Chapter 10: 10.1 – 10.5). 4 Functional Maths Task 1: Reporting the weather. 5 Statistics: Averages.
