CALCULATING EQUATIONS BY CALCULATOR
Preparing to use the Equation Solver on the graphing calculator:
Set up the equation as 0 = , by moving everything on the left
side to the right side. This can be done by subtracting the whole
thing in parenthesis. Do not change anything!
4(2x – 1) = 3x + 6
0 = 3x + 6 – (4(2x – 1))
Using the Equation Solver:
The screen should show “Equation Solver, eqn:0=”, if it
does not use the up arrow and press CLEAR to clear out
any old equation.
Enter the transformed equation after 0=. Be sure to type
it exactly as is, including all parentheses.
Press ENTER. Verify the equation at the top. The x = # is
not correct until the Equation Solver has been completed.
Ignore any value at this point. The bounding sequence is
for all real numbers.
To complete the calculations with the Equation Solver
press ALPHA ENTER.
The correct solution should now be in x = .
1. 5x + 2(3x – 1) = 7x + 10
