Middle School Math Course 2: Accelerated 6th Grade

Course description: Students will learn important middle school math concepts and
skills that will prepare them for high school and beyond. They will develop reasoning,
problem solving and communication skills that will enable them to apply math to real-life

Prepared, Respectful, Involved and Determined, EVERYDAY.
Materials needed each day: Grades: 40% Tests
1. Math notebook 20% Quizzes
2. Pencil 20% Homework Quizzes
3. Calculator 15% In-Class work, Misc
4. Planner 5% Benchmarks
Tests: Pre-tests and post-tests will both be used. Students will always know about an
upcoming test. Look for parent emails and the class website for test dates.
Quizzes: There will be an average of one quiz per week. Students may correct quizzes
for additional points.
Homework Quizzes: Students will receive homework about 3 times per week. Every
block day, students will take a homework quiz. The questions will be from their weekly
Absences: If a student is absent from class, they are responsible for getting the notes and
activities. set up a time to make up any tests or quizzes.
Extra help: My office hours will be Thursday mornings starting at 7:15 in the LMC, and
other times by appointment. Students should talk to me if they need to meet for extra
