LAKE MILLS AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
POLICY 536.1 – RESIGNATION OF PROFESSIONAL STAFF
Any certified staff member under contract to the Lake Mills School Board who desires a release
from his/her contract shall submit such a request to the District Administrator in writing.
Complete resignations from all employment with the District shall be accepted by the Board if
effective at the conclusion of the employee’s individual contract.
Employees under contract to the Board requesting a release shall submit such request to the
District Administrator in writing by June 1st. Request for release from their contract will be
acted upon by the Board within thirty (30) days unless circumstances make it impossible. Any
certified staff member requesting a release during a contract year, or after June 30th, shall be
charged the cost of hiring a replacement including long distant calls, travel, job posting costs,
administrative time and other expenses related to the procurement of a replacement in the event
the Board permits release. These costs will be outlined in the Employee Handbook. In no case
will a staff member be released from contract during a school year until a suitable replacement is
