Main Topic Supporting Detail

What is gravity A force of attraction between objects due to their mass

All objects experience an attraction toward all other
                       objects.

Earth’s mass is so large it makes gravitational pull of
all other objects on Earth unnoticeable.

Earth’s gravitational force pulls everything towards the
                       center of Earth.

Newton Described relationship between gravitational force,
                       mass, and distance

Applies to all objects in the universe.

Law of Universal All objects in the universe attract each other through
Gravitation gravitational force.

Gravitational force increases as mass increases
(ex. Elephant is harder to pick up than a cat because it
                       has a greater mass)

Gravitational force decreases as distance increases

Weight a measure of the gravitational force on an object –
                       (measured using a scale (n))

Mass amount of matter in an object (measured using a
                       balance (g))

Units of weight/mass Newton- SI unit for force (weight)

Kilograms, grams – SI unit for mass

Pound- standard unit for force (weight)
