                    TAKES HONORS AT
          2007 SUNYCUAD AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE
SYRACUSE, NY – Onondaga Community College’s Office of Public Affairs
received three awards – including “Best of Category” – at the recent SUNY
Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) Awards For Excellence
ceremony held in Syracuse. SUNYCUAD includes more than 800 members
representing marketing, public relations and event management from the 64
SUNY campuses.

Onondaga’s entries were judged alongside those of university centers and four-
year institutions. The team was honored for their collective efforts to develop
publications, campaigns and events with the goal of enhancing enrollment and
promoting the residence halls. The Office of Public Affairs was recognized with
the following awards:

Best of Category: Four-color Magapapers: 180
The Onondaga Community College magapaper, 180, is a biannual publication
targeted exclusively to current high school students and features stories about
the academic, social and residential experiences of students on the Onondaga
campus. The name 180 was created to identify the transformative and life-
changing experience that students encounter at Onondaga.

Judges Citation for Special Events/Yearlong Activities: Residence Hall
Campaign
The Residence Hall campaign was a comprehensive, year-long event
encompassing radio, print, television, outdoor and direct mail advertising; a
formal dedication and grand opening ceremony; and extensive media coverage.

Judges Citation for Total Advertising Program: The View From Onondaga
This advertising campaign featured real people from Onondaga Community
College including professors, coaches, students and alumni who shared their
views about the College.

The second-largest undergraduate college in Central New York, Onondaga
Community College (OCC) is a comprehensive two-year college operating under
the State University of New York (SUNY). It is locally sponsored by Onondaga
County. Founded in 1961, the College is committed to affordable excellence in
higher education through its nearly 50 programs of study.
