Job Purpose

To process purchase requisitions for the Save the Children program in Myanmar in a
transparent manner, following organizational procedures. To carry out related
procurement activities such as market surveys and supplier evaluations.

Key accountabilities
   • To complete all local purchases in Yangon as supplied in the form of authorized,
      correctly completed, & intelligible Requisition forms.
   • To apply Save the Children standard logistics procedures related to
   •    Responsible for ensuring due consideration is given to delivery scheduling and
       conditions       including guarantees, packing, transportation, quality, penalities
       and returns policies.

   •   To negotiate pricing on behalf of Save the Children in a transparent, ethical
       manner and without damaging supplier relationships.
   •   Manage supplier relationships, maintaining transparency and working in Save
       the Children’s best interests at all times. Pressing the supplier to meet
       commitments while maintaining a courteous and professional approach.
   •   Provide continuous updates to the Procurement Administrator on pricing and
       supplier information.
   •   Receives invoices from suppliers, checking they are correct and complete, and
       passing payment requests together with all necessary supporting documentation
       to finance, tracking to ensure payment is made on time to the supplier.To carry
       out pricing surveys as requested by the Logistics Manager.
   •   Respond flexibly to changing program needs, reprioritising tasks in a logical,
       sensible way and in coordination/consultation with the Procurement Officer.

Person specification
   • A minimum of 6 months experience in a similar or cash handling role.
   • Appreciation of purchasing and financial control procedures.
   • Local knowledge, including familiarity with the local supply market.
   • Excellent communication skills – working courteously with suppliers whilst
      negotiating firmly in Save the Children’s interests.
   • A deep sense of honesty and a keen awareness of the inherent responsibility of
      the position. Willingness to declare conflicts of interest, bias or bribes in any form.
   • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to keep up to date and
      accurate records and to ensure deadlines are met.
   • Reporting skills – particularly the ability to quickly develop clear and concise
      delivery tracking, scheduling or pricing reports in Excel.
   • Excellent team-working skills & flexibility under pressure and in response to
      changing needs.
   • Excellent numeric accuracy.
   • Basic English language skills.
   • Experience in logistics, supply chain and/or humanitarian work.
