TITLE OF POSITION:                                   IT Communications Specialist
DEPARTMENT:                                          Information Technology, Rose Hill
      Coordinates the timely deployment of integrated marketing programs that will build and promote Fordham IT’s brand
      Develops and manages an overall strategic marketing & communications plan for Fordham IT; includes strategy for
       communicating & collaborating with business partners as well as internally within VP_IT.
      Attends site events, project meetings, status meetings, etc.; compose news stories/articles for IT online and print publications;
       compose communication materials for multimedia, including email, print, online, and digital message boards; includes
       Fordham IT newsletter, InsideIT
      Coordinates meetings; prepares correspondence and general PowerPoint presentations.
      Developing a Fordham IT strategic communications plan, encompassing objectives, goals, and tools for all written, spoken, and
       electronic interactions with IT team members, business partners, and external audiences as appropriate.
      Studying the objectives, policies, and needs of the organization to develop public relations strategies that will influence public
       opinion or promote ideas, products, and services.
      Listening and asking questions to gain precise understanding of the department’s often complex activities, to then speak and
       write confidently and accurately about what we do.
      Identifying ways for IT members to communicate and collaborate more effectively – and putting them into place.
      Finding the best stories that emerge from the department and related projects and surfacing them in imaginative ways – through
       video, printed materials, and on the web – to communicate to others what we're doing and why it matters.
      Immersion into projects as appropriate to assist with overall coordination of schedules and communications.
      Conferring with IT staff members to identify trends and key group interests and concerns or to provide advice on business
      Taking sometimes jargon-heavy information and translating it into layman's terms, to make complex ideas more accessible.
      Providing communications support to IT team members.
      Refining communications and branding as more is learned about what works in our environment
      BA/BS undergraduate degree in Public Relations & Marketing or related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience.
      4-6 years of work experience in the field or a related area
      Attention to detail, strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently,
       ability to prioritize
      Ability to handle multiple projects
      Experience using both PC and MAC systems would be ideal
      Strong PowerPoint skills -- Ability to translate strategic messages into creative and accurate presentations
      Word and Excel skills (all Microsoft Office Applications);
      Working knowledge of web authoring tools (Dreamweaver / Open source equivalent).
      Basic working knowledge of InDesign and Flash a plus.
      Ability to deal and work effectively with people at various locations and levels in the organization
      Experience working with online publications
      Experience and familiarity with writing for the Web; comfortable using social media networks
