                            What about our
                            children’s health ?
                                   Fortunately, many people
                                   are paying more attention
                                   to children’s
                                   environmental health.
There is a very good reason
                              for this, too. Children are
                              not little adults.
                                                                                                             2

                            What about our
                            children’s health ?

                                         Children‘s bodies are
                                              developing.

Relative to adult body size –
                                 children eat, drink & breathe
                                       more than adults.
                                                                                                             3

                            What about our
                            children’s health ?

Before we start looking at the
                                       results, lets look at what
tools can help us realize what
                                     level of pollution is present.

                            Toxics Reporting Inventories (TRI)

                                            The US EPA requires more
                                            than 20,000 companies to
                                            file a Toxic Release Inventory
                                            (TRI).
The TRI shows EPA the emissions of
hundreds of chemicals that are known
to harm humans or the environment.

                                                                                                              5

TRI – tools to visualize polluters

The EPA has a website that helps locate
polluters. You put in a zip code and see
    all the industries/entities that submit
    the TRI information.

that website. One, TRI.net, lets you
      integrate mapping with questions you
      develop and analyze trends.

            Another EPA tool is EnviroMapper.
      We’ll use that to
