Seniors--
Seniors will be attending SCC's Regional College Fair on
Friday, September 28th. Permission slips should be turned
into the guidance office by Wednesday, Sept. 26th.

Next Thursday will be your final chance to see the
Monticello Lady Trojans in action at a home volleyball game.
This is also SENIOR NIGHT for Hannah Stringer. Please make
your plans to come to the game, show your support, and give
Hannah a wonderful senior night memory.

Girls Basketball will be doing the haunted house fund raiser
again this October. We are looking for things to use for
costumes and props. If you might have any old clothes, shoes,
lumber, furniture, etc that you would be will to donate, it
would be GREATLY appreciated!! You can bring items to bus
garage. Also, if any staff would like to be part of the cast it
would be a big help. You can email me or call bus garage.

Senior Baby Photos for Yearbook:
All seniors should select a baby picture for the yearbook and turn it in
to the front office no later than October 1st. Make sure you put the
photo in an envelope with your name on it. Your name should also be
written on the back of the photo. All photographs will be returned to
you later in the year.

                               Carnival Royalty Announcement

The Monticello High School Senior Carnival will be held Friday, October 5th, at Memorial Park
and the contest for Carnival Royalty has now begun.

Students in grades K-5 can run for Prince or Princess. Winners will receive a new bicycle, a $25
Wal-Mart gift card, and a large pizza from Pizza Hut or Dominos.

Students in grades 6-8 can run for Lord or Lady. Winners will receive a $25 Wal-Mart card,
season passes to all home varsity boys’ and girl’s basketball games for the season, and a large
pizza from Pizza Hut or Dominos.

Students in grades 9-12 can run for King or Queen. Winners will receive a $25 Visa gift card, a
2012-2013 yearbook, and season passes to all home varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball games for
the season.
The contest begins today and the first collection will be on Friday, September 21st. Carnival
royalty winners will be announced at the carnival on October 5th. The senior class encourages as
many students as possible to participate. All proceeds will be used to help students attend the
Senior Trip in the spring.

High School Students
Toni Wiley, our KHEAA Outreach Counselor, will host presentations for high school students on
September 20th and 21st




HOT Expo
This year’s HOT (Health Occupations Today) Expo will be held at the Center for Rural
Development on Friday, November 16, 2012. High School juniors and seniors interested in
attending should sign up in the guidance office.




Assessment-Related Info and Events:
Explore Test—September 25th (all 8th grade)
      All 8th Graders

Plan Test—September 26th (all 10th grade)
      All 10th Graders
PSAT Test—October 20th (9th, 10th, and 11th)
       Registration Deadline—September 27th .
       This test is for students in grades 9-11. Students in grade 11 can qualify for National Merit
        Scholarships.
       To register, turn registration forms and a non-refundable payment of $15 in to the guidance
        office by September 27th.

ACT Test—October 27th
       Registration Deadline—September 21st
       Students must go online to www.actstudent.org and upload a photo.
       Fee waivers are available to juniors or seniors who receive free or reduced lunch.

ASVAB Test—
       Wednesday, November 14th (All juniors and some seniors)

Sophomores—HOBY
Sophomores... Do you have outstanding oral or written communication skills, critical or creative
thinking, creative problem solving skills, strong decision-making skills, sensitivity to the needs or
concerns of others, a charismatic personality, courage to speak out for one's beliefs, courage to
challenge authority, or involvement in school or community activities? If so, you should apply for HOBY!!
If accepted, you will get to attend the HOBY Summer Program in Summer, 2013. :) Essay Topic: In one
page or less, please describe the most rewarding or challenging aspect(s) of being a leader in your
school or community. Essays should be submitted to the high school guidance office by October 5, 2012.

Juniors—Governor’s Scholars Program
Applications are now available @ http://gsp.ky.gov/. To apply, download an application and save it to
your computer or flash drive. You will need to work on it quite a bit over the next few weeks and
months. Applications should be submitted to the guidance office no later than Friday, December 7,
2012. We will meet w/ all juniors interested in applying to GSP or GSA during 7th period on October 2nd.
